The Once and Future Witches by Alix E Harrow.
“There’s no such thing as witches, but there will be”. Witches have been gone for a long while, when Old Salem was left to burn into a ruin. Since then, only small charms have been used around the house or for personal effect. Witches have become a thing of the past, that is until the Eastwood sisters arrive in New Salem, desiring a new future, where women can become more and witches restored.
This story is told in the perspective of the three sisters, which I really love. Hearing from each gives extra depth and a wonderful insight into each character. What makes them tick, what their desires are and why they do what they do.
The Once and Future Witches is a book that sates that itch, you know the one you get when you want to read something ultra special. I am a real fan of witchy reads, there is just something about them that really appeals to me. This book is everything we love and know about witches. I already wish I could go back and read it again for the first time.
I read and loved The Ten Thousand Doors of January, thinking surely it would be a hard book to follow on from. To produce anything as equally magical would be a massive feat. Well I can tell you Alix E. Harrow has done just that. I urge everyone to pre order this book, you will not be disappointed.
